READING, Pa. – Softball (3-13, 0-6 MAC Commonwealth) hosted Eastern (17-5, 6-0 MAC Commonwealth) on Saturday afternoon in the teams annual NFCA strikeout cancer games. Eastern took both ends of today's double header winning 8-0 in game on and 8-5 in game two.
Last time out the Lions earned their first doubleheader sweep of the season beating Gallaudet 15-5 in game one and 10-5 in game two.
The Lions hosted their annual "NFCA Strike Out Cancer" Games hosting Eastern at the Albright softball field.
Game 1:
The game was low scoring for a majority of the contest.
Alexis Laboy started game one for the Lions and fared well in her outing. Laboy pitched five innings and only allowed two runs.
Eastern broke the game open in the sixth inning to take game one over the Lions.
Three Lions in the starting nine all collected one hit each.
Juliette Licata, Laboy and
Madison Lasko all recorded singles.
For Licata and Laboy it marked the third straight game with a hit for the duo.
Game 2:
The Eagles jumped on the Lions early in game one getting out to a 6-1 lead. Albright would not go down easy as the team scored two runs in the seventh looking to climb back into the game.
A
Grace Landante single brought the Lions within four runs and was followed by a
Slaydon Fisher sacrifice fly making it an 8-5 Eastern lead. With the tying run on deck, Eastern brought in a new pitcher who was able to shut the door and take game two of the series.
Aliza Langlois went 4-4 in game two accounting for half of the Lions total team hits. Langlois plated three of the team's five runs. The four hit game is the second of the season for Langlois.
Licata tallied two hits increasing her hit streak to four straight games. The sophomore Lion now has four multi hit games this season.
Rounding out the hits for Albright was
Monica Hernandez who went 1-3 with a run scored.
