Women’s Tennis Rolls by Immaculata 7-0 on Thursday

The Albright women’s tennis team continues to impress on the court winning their 21st straight regular season match in a row.

IMMACULATA, Pa. – The women's tennis team (12-0) played their second straight match on consecutive days on Thursday afternoon on the road at Immaculata (2-7). The Lions cruised by the Mighty Macs winning 7-0.

Yesterday, Albright improved to 11-0 and 2-0 in MAC Commonwealth play with a 7-0 victory over York. Today's win marked the 21st straight regular season victory for Albright.

Alex Pancu was once again featured in number one singles. Pancu won 6-0, 6-0 in straight sets to win her 57th career match playing in number one singles. The senior Lion is just four career singles match wins behind Albright Hall of Famer Victoria Foanio (HOF class of '23) who totaled 61 career #1 singles victories.

With four more matches on the regular season schedule, Pancu could tie the program record on the final day against Eastern on April 23.

Michelle Timothy won her 35th career match this afternoon in an Albright uniform. Overall, Timohty has lost only once this season primarily playing in number two singles. Today's match saw Timohy win in straights winning set one 7-5 and set two 6-0.

Allison Horick is now 11-0 to begin her Albright career. 10 of the 11 wins have been in straight sets. This afternoon Horick won in straight sets again taking the match 6-1, 6-4.

Elicia Aponte won her third straight match this afternoon in number four singles. Aponte has only lost twice the entire season in singles play and was her usual dominant self this afternoon winning 6-0, 6-1.

Alaina Smith did not drop a set in number five singles win winning 6-0, 6-0. With the win Smith improves to 11-1 this season winning each of her last 11 matches overall.

Saba Soroush kept the winning ways going in number six singles winning her match 6-1, 6-3. Soroush is 9-1 this year with eight of the nine wins coming in straight sets.

All three doubles matches went the way of the Lions and all three finished with the same scoreline. Pancu and Horick in number one doubles, Timohty and Aponte in number two doubles and Smith and Kaelyn Davis in number three doubles all won 6-1.
