READING, Pa. – Women's lacrosse (5-9, 1-3 MAC Commonwealth) hosted the nationally ranked #25 Messiah Falcons (11-3, 5-0 MAC Commonwealth) on Saturday afternoon. Messiah won today's game 23-5 to stay perfect on the year in conference play.
Prior to the start of today's game, the women's lacrosse team took the time to honor their four graduating players. The graduating seniors are
Sarah Chernis,
Lucy Moreland,
Caelainn Morrison and
Cynthia Schneider.
Sarah Chernis is closing in on two individual milestones with three games to go in the regular season. Chernis tallied three assists today for three total points. With today's totals, Chernis is sitting at 98 career points and 38 season assists. The program record for assists in a season is 41.
Messiah carried a 14-5 lead into halftime and used their big first half to their advantage winning the game on the Lions home field.
Riley Basht recorded her second hat trick of the season registering three goals this afternoon. Basht has scored in five straight games and is up to 17 goals on the season.
Kendall Smith and
Zoe Dicks each tallied a goal this afternoon. Smith is the second leading goal scorer on the team with 21 goals and Dicks is third on the team in goals with 19 including today.
