CHESTER, Pa. – Albright Baseball (13-16) traveled to Chester to conclude their season series with the Widener Pride (16-16). Following nine innings of play, both offenses would catch fire as the Pride edged out the Lions by a score of 12-9.
As a team, the Lions offense accounted for 16 hits and five walks in one of their best all-around offensive performances of the season.
The Lions opened up the scoring in the top of the first inning with a pair of runs off the bats of
Nick Barton and
Michael Avino to take a 2-0 lead.
After Widener answered with four runs in the bottom of the first, the Lions counter-punched with two more runs via a sacrifice fly from
Roman Berretta and another RBI single from Avino.
Berretta would later account for another sacrifice fly to put the Lions back up 6-5 after
Christian Eckstein scored on a passed ball. Eckstein scored a team high three runs and tied three other Lion's for a team high three hits.
Michael Avino would later drive in his team high third RBI of the game by driving in
Nathan Golden via a fielder's choice.
After the Lions retook the lead by a score of 8-7, the Widener bast would break through one more time in the seventh inning leading to a 12-9 win and series sweep for the Pride.
