Softball Earns Double Header Split Against Arcadia

The Lions 2025 softball season ended on Tuesday afternoon but not before the Lions earned a double header split against Arcadia.

READING, Pa.  – Softball (4-32) concluded their 2025 season on Tuesday afternoon squaring off against MAC Freedom member institution Arcadia (13-23). The Lions took game one over the Knights and the Knights turned around to win game two.

Game 1:

The Lions took game one with a final score of 4-1. Albright outhit Arcadia in game one seven to five.

Jadelyn Van Winkle ended her career in style by throwing a complete game only facing 29 total batters. Van Winkle was not charged with an earned run through all seven innings. The senior pitcher scattered five hits and struck out two on her way to earning the victory. Van Winkle concludes her Albright career with 243.0 innings pitched and 128 strikeouts.

Albright found themselves behind in game one until the bottom of the fifth inning. Slaydon Fisher doubled to right field to score Juliette Licata to tie the game back up at 1-1.

The Lions would take the lead for good in the home half of the sixth inning. This time Licata drove in what wound up being the game winning RBI scoring Lily Vogel on the play.

Grace Landante added some insurance for the Lions singling up the middle to score Licata and Sadie Gonzalez for two RBIs. The Lions would lead 4-1 heading into the top of the seventh inning.

The Lions ended the game with a tremendous defensive play from Aliza Langlois in left field. Langlois gunned down a runner at home to end the game allowing catcher Grace Landante to easily apply the tag for the game's final out.

Fisher ended game one going 3-3 at the plate with an RBI. Licata went 1-2 with two runs scored. Landante went 1-3 with two RBIs.

Gabriella Weiss and Gonzalez rounded out game one for the Lions each earning a hit.

Game 2:

The Lions fell in game two 8-3. Arcadia scored six runs in the seventh inning to steal a win from the Lions on their home field.

Licata recorded two more hits in game two. For the season Licata led the team with a .365 batting average. Licata ended the season with a hit in six of the last seven games. In 13 games this season, Licata recorded two more or more hits.

Fisher collected two more RBIs in game two to go along with two hits. A pair of big games this afternoon raised Fisher's batting average to over .300 ending 2025 at .304. In both games this afternoon, Fisher had at least a double, an RBI and multiple hits.

Langlois reached base safely in all four plate appearances in game two. Langlois walked three times while tallying a hit and a run scored. Grace Landante went 1-4 rounding out the Lions hits.

Alexis Laboy started on the mound faring well over 4.1 innings pitched. At the plate Laboy recorded an RBI scoring Langlois from third.
