READING, Pa. – The Albright Men's Soccer team (2-0) returned to Shirk Stadium for the first of two home games beginning with Valley Forge (1-1-2). Following 90 minutes of play, the Lions offense could do no wrong as the team cruised past the Patriots 5-1.
After a quiet start to the game,
Myles Mitchell broke the seal for the Lions with a goal in the 13
th minute of play on an assist from
Martin Ramsay. Ramsay would go on to have a goal of his own in the second half in an all-around productive day for the senior.
Also scoring in the first half were
Will Garnett and
Erick Tacuri who picked up goals off assists from
Zach Fratrik and
Bryan Tavera-Perez. Garnett's goal was the first of his collegiate career.
The Lions entered halftime leading 3-0 and dominated both time of possession and time on attack.
After Ramsay's goal to open the second half,
Brady Devito would score the fifth goal for the Lions in the 82
nd minute to push the Lions' lead to 5-0. This marks the second season in a row the Lions put up five goals against the Patriots.
Despite a Patriots' goal in the final minutes, the Lions defense turned in one of their best performances of the early season and held Valley Forge to only two total shots throughout the game.
