PHILADELPHIA – Women's and men's cross country officially began their 2025 season on Saturday afternoon competing in the Philadelphia Classic hosted by Jefferson University. The women's team competed in the 5K race while the men's side competed in the 8K race.
In her first race as an Albright Lion,
Maizy Aikey turned in a tremendous time of 21:50.6 to take 10
th place out of 58 total competitors in the race. Aikey turned in one of the best times in recent memory for the Lions under the leadership of head coach
Daryl Nelson.
Aniya Davis finished second for Albright with a time of 29:21.3. Rounding out the women's team was
Standey Sauveur who finished with a time of 38:50.07 while
Tiana Douglas finished in 43:42.9.
Five Lions took to the course for the Lions on the men's side in the forms of
Evan Eisenhardt,
Jordan Patton, Rayvone Edwards,
James Smith and
Cire Wilson.
Eisenhardt led the men's team with a time of 33:14.5 and was followed by Patton who finished with a time of 40:08.7.
Edwards took third on the Lions turning in a time of 51:56.5 and was followed closely by Smith who had a time of 52:31.2.
Wilson rounded out the day for Albright with a time of 1:03:03.9.

The teams will have a couple weeks off before returning to competition at the Penn State Abington Invitational on Saturday September 20.
