Men’s Wrestling Competes at Ursinus Manganaro Duals

Men’s wrestling faced strong competition on Saturday afternoon in the Manganaro duals on the campus of Ursinus College.

COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Men's wrestling (8-3) competed at the Manganaro duals on Saturday afternoon on the campus of Ursinus College. Albright went 1-3-x on the day across four duals.

Albright wrestled strong competition on Saturday afternoon including the #17 United States Coast Guard and Division II Shippensburg. The Lions picked up a dominating win in their final match of the day against Southern Maine.
 
Dual Results:

L, Albright 12 | #17 United States Coast Guard Academy 32

Daniel Metzler, Trent Mahoney and Abdoul Akala earned three Lion wins against US Coast Guard.

Metzler (141) registered a major decision his opponent 16-6, Mahoney did not allow a single point winning his bout 15-0 and Akala picked a four point decision winning 13-9.

L, Albright 21 | Shippensburg 25

The Lions faced off against Division II Shippensburg in the second dual of the day. Shippensburg was featured in the latest Division national team rankings as receiving votes in the national poll.

Metzler (141) earned a first period pin in quick fashion, ending the bout in 30 seconds. Calvin Myers (157) picked up a 10-7 decision while Akala (184) topped his opponent via pin in the first period.

W, Albright 43 | Southern Maine 8

Hezekiah Molina-Hagdu (125) got the dual started with a pin to put the Lions up 6-0 early. Southern Maine would win the next two bouts. After Southern Maine's two straight wins, Albright would go on to win the remaining bouts for the dominating victory.

Seth Karpulk (149) tallied a tech fall and was followed by Mahoney (157) and Baiyshbekov (165) picked up back-to-back pins.

Caidyn Leaf (174) earned a hard fought 4-2 win. Akala (184) continued his strong day with a pin in the first period.

Gideon Fasanya (197) and Joseph Gassert (HWT) rounded out the dual with a 17-1 tech fall and a pin, respectively.

L, Albright 15 | Roger Williams 28

Mahoney, Baiyshbekov and Akala all picked up wins for Albright against Roger Williams.

Mahoney and Baiyshbekov both pinned their opponents while Akala earned an 8-3 victory. Akala went a perfect 4-0 on the day to lead the Lions.
 
Up Next:
