Lions rally falls short on Senior Day

Men's soccer drops 2-1 battle to FDU-Florham

READING, Pa. – The Albright College men's soccer team made a late push against FDU-Florham, but the rally came up just short in a 2-1 setback on Saturday afternoon.

Prior to the game, the Lions celebrated the careers of Thayne Kahl and Darwyn Avila with Senior Day festivities. The duo had their career highlights read by the announcer and they were joined on the field by family and friends.

The Devils (6-5-3) got on the scoreboard early with a goal at the 7:43 mark of the opening period. The teams exchanged some scoring opportunities after that point, but neither were able to find the back of the net and FDU-Florham took the 1-0 lead into the break. Out of the intermission, the visitors built a 2-0 advantage with a score in the 73rd minute.

The Lions (4-9-3) responded with a goal at the 80:54 mark of the game. Will Garnett made a nice pass in the box to Brady Divito, who redirected the ball inside the right post to notch his team leading 10th goal of the season. Albright continued to apply pressure over the final 10 minutes of play but were not able to find the equalizer.

Divito finished the contest with four shots on goal, while Alexis Zurita-Jimenez, Liam Manners and John Stum each had one.

Ethan Beauchemin collected seven saves in net, while Avila had one defensive save. Donavan Ford collected six saves in goal for the Devils.
