Men’s Soccer Ties Alvernia on the Road

The Lions took on the Golden Wolves in Reading vs. Reading Soccer.

READING, Pa. – Men's Soccer (4-5-2, 0-1-1 MAC Commonwealth) made the quick trip down the road to face Alvernia (4-4-3, 0-0-2 MAC Commonwealth) for their second conference game of the season. Ultimately, 90 minutes of play would not be enough to declare a victor, resulting in the second draw for the Lions this season.

Neither side lacked any offensive opportunities with both teams putting up over a dozen shots throughout the contest. Alexis Zurita-Jimenez registered a game-high six shots and was all over the attack for the Lions.

With Alvernia scoring first in the 33rd minute, Zach Fratrik would answer the call in the 50th minute to tie the contest up at one goal apiece.

Just 10 minutes later, Brady Divito capitalized off a setup coming from John Stum and Gael Velazquez for his seventh goal of the season to give the Lions a 2-1 lead. Divito finished the night with three of his four shots winding up on goal and continues to be in the midst of a sophomore breakout.

Liam Manners, Stum and Darwyn Avila each joined in on the attack efforts as well with shots of their own.

A goal from the Golden Wolves in the 69th minute of play would wind up being the game's final score resulting in a 2-2 tie between the Reading schools.
