Men’s Basketball Falls in Doble OT Against York

The Lions lost a heartbreaker at the Bollman Center to end their 2025-2026 campaign.

READING, Pa. – Men's Basketball (16-10, 12-3 MAC Commonwealth) Hosted York (20-6, 10-4 MAC Commonwealth) in the first round of the Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth Tournament. Two extra periods were needed to decide the third meeting between the two teams as the Spartans left with a 94-83 win to advance to the conference finals.

Qadir Mitchell played all 50 minutes and ended his final game with 36 points along with five rebounds, three assists and one steal. Mithcell was the only player to play the entirety of regulation and both overtime periods.

The Lions secured momentum early and scored the game's first six points which included a number of early makes from Chase McWhite. McWhite played 47 of 50 minutes and recorded 22 points along with three blocks.

Halftime would see the Lions enter the locker room with 32-31 lead as both teams found their fair share of momentum swings in the opening 20 minutes.

Phanique Dupree recorded a team best 11 rebounds including four on the offensive end to help set up numerous second chance opportunities for the Lions. Dupree joined McWhite with multiple blocks with a pair of his own.

Jeremiah Stanton ended the night with 14 points and dished out a team best five assists. Stanton would also connect on two of his five three-point attempts.

Three Spartan free-throws would allow them to tie in the final seconds of the first overtime and force a second overtime period where the Spartans seized all remaining momentum bringing a historic Lions winning streak to an end.
