Trent Mahoney and
Danny Metzler are set to compete in the NCAA Division III wrestling Championships. The Championships begin on Friday, March 13 and will conclude on Saturday, March 14. Cedar Rapids, Iowa will host the Championships taking place at the Alliant Energy Power House in Iowa.

Albright College will be represented by
Trent Mahoney and
Danny Metzler when competition begins in 72 hours. Mahoney will wrestle in the 157-pound weight class and Metzler will wrestle in the 141-pound weight class.
Mahoney enters the national championships with a 36-1 record. His only loss this season came against a Division II opponent. In the MAC Championships and Regional Championships, Mahoney dominated the competition compiling six total falls in eight total bouts.
In the 157-pound weight class Mahoney was tabbed as the #2 seed. Williams College Peter Kane is the #1 seed in the bracket with a season record of 28-0. Mahoney will face the winner of Thomas Wagner (CWRU/38-8) and Braden Kmak (Ursinus/38-7) in the opening round. Mahoney has already seen Kmak this season beating him via fall in the Regional Championship bout.
Metzler went on a run to qualify for the National Championships after being the #15 seed in the regional tournament. On his way to the regional final, Metzler beat the #18, #10 and #2 seeds to advance to the 141-pound title bout.
This season Metzler has gone 27-13 in his first collegiate season. The first-year Lion will face Penn Tech's Kaden Ware who has a record of 16-4. If Metzler beats Ware, he will then face the #3 seed Kade Blume from Wartburg.
Mahoney will be making his third overall appearance in the National Championships while Metzler is making his first.
"Trent and Danny have put in a great two weeks of work to set them up for success later this week. It is a great opportunity for the duo as well as a great opportunity to represent Albright College and the program on a national level", Said head coach

The pair will look to become the first All-Americans in program history. To obtain All-American status, you need to finish inside the top eight.
NCAA Championships will get underway at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 13 beginning with Preliminary rounds one & two and consolation first round. Championship quarterfinals, consolation second-round wrestle-backs and consolation third round will start at 6:00 p.m.
Saturday March 14 will feature the Championship semifinals & consolation wrestle-back quarterfinals; consolation semifinals; seventh-, fifth- & third place matches at 11:00 a.m.
The Championship finals will begin at 8:00 p.m.
