VERO BEACH, Fl. – Baseball (5-1) won their second and third straight games on Friday afternoon downing Northwestern-St. Pual (0-2) 13-3 and Lebanon Valley (2-6) 5-1. Albright displayed a great brand of baseball outscoring their opponents 18-4 across the two games.
Game 1: W, 13-3
Albright scored early and often against Northwestern-St. Pual producing the most runs in a game this season for the team.
Tommy Lewman went 3-3 with four RBIs and three runs scored. Lewman doubled home
Michael Avino in the first and sixth innings Lewman is closing in on 100 career hits, currently having 94.
The Lions scored five runs in the sixth and seventh innings to push their lead to 13-3. Albright would finish the game with 13 runs on 14 hits.
Avino collected three hits, an RBI and three runs scored. The top four in the Lions order
Nathan Golden, Avino, Lewman and
Anthony Knight combined for nine hits and 11 runs scored.
Colby Yaich earned his second start of the season pitching two and third before giving way to the bullpen.
Patrick Ahearn,
Landyn Shaw,
Quincy Bell and
Brian Hoffmann allowed only run in six and a third innings striking out nine.
Ahearn picked up the win to move to 1-0 this season. Shaw has been dominant in the early goings throwing seven scoreless innings with seven strikeouts in three appearances.
Game 2: W, 5-1
The Lions brought momentum into game two from their game one win. One run came across in each of the first three innings for the Lions. Lewman opened the game with a solo home run for his first of the season.
Plyler Hunter put Albright up 2-0 scoring
Chris Gorla on an RBI single. Hunter's RBI would go on to be the game winning RBI.
Josh Tudor made his second start of the season and arguably one of the best of his career. Tudor went seven innings allowing only one run on seven hits. Tudor struck out four while only walking one batter.
In two starts this season Tudor is 2-0 with a 1.38 ERA across 13 innings of work.
Wayne Hudson pitched the games final two innings striking out three along the way.
Avino gave the Lions insurance in the bottom of the eighth inning on an RBI single. Avino ended with three hits and two runs scored. The run pushed the Lions lead to 5-1, putting them on the cusp of victory.
Lewman and Knight each collected two hits and an RBI.
Christian Eckstein, Gorla, Golden and Hunter all had one hit on the afternoon.
