FARMINDALE, N.Y. – Men's golf opened play at historic Bethpage State Park competing in the Farmingdale State Tournament. Albright shot a team score of 300 which marks the best team score of any tournament in the 2026 spring season.
RESULTS
The Lions will play the red course at Bethpage State Park over the next two days. The field for the tournament is among the best you will find in any tournament throughout the country.
Babson, who is ranked #21 in the country, leads the tournament after day one with a team score of 273. Bowdoin sits in second with a team score of 277 and is followed by #42 Amherst who finished the day in third with a score of 279.
Albright has a great opportunity in front of them tomorrow to climb up the team leaderboard. The Lions sit only five strokes behind the current 10
th place team (Hartford).
The team score of 300 is the best score for the Lions in the spring season. It bested the team's previous low score of 310 set back on March 28 at the DeSales Spring Classic. "It was a very impressive day for Albright playing such a great course," said head men's golf coach
Eric Lamm. "I am proud of the team for rising to the challenge of playing in an elite field with some of the best programs on the east coast."
Nontaphat Veeratecha led with a round of 73. Veeratecha birdied the par three first hole and made back-to-back birdies on the back nine. Veeratecha found success on the par fives playing them at one under par.
August Fredrik Alhanko finished one stroke behind Veeratecha shooting a 74. Alhanko found two birdies on holes nine and 10 to highlight his round.
Jonatan Liljeblad came in with a round of 76. Liljebald found his groove on the back nine birding the par five 16
th hole to finish the back nine at just one over par.
Ashton McKechan and
Sam Elsen both shot rounds of 77 today. The duo combined for three total birdies across the 36 holes played between them.
Each Albright Lion in the lineup finished with a round in the 70's showing the team is playing some of their best golf of the year in the late stages of the season.
