Over the past two years, Albright has announced the addition of STUNT, men's and women's wrestling, women's flag football, men's ice hockey, and now women's ice hockey. Men's wrestling and STUNT concluded their first seasons in 2025-2026, while women's wrestling and women's flag football are set to begin in the 2026-2027 athletic season.

"We are excited to announce the addition of women's ice hockey, furthering our athletic initiatives at Albright," said Rick Ferry, Athletic Director at Albright College. "The latest program will allow Albright to broaden and strengthen our athletic offerings to meet the demands for more opportunities to compete at a high level in the NCAA. The women's ice hockey program will grow to be a crucial part of the Albright College experience."

Earlier this year, Albright College announced a partnership with Body Zone Sports and Wellness Complex. The complex will serve as the home for the women's and men's ice hockey programs. Body Zone features NHL-sized ice rinks, multiple locker rooms, and a large space for spectators, located only six miles from Albright's campus.

When competition begins in 2027, Albright women's ice hockey will join Alvernia, Arcadia, Hood, King's, Lebanon Valley, Neumann, Stevenson, and Wilkes in the Middle Atlantic Conference.

Albright boasts 550 student-athletes, many of whom also excel academically in the classroom while being involved in numerous other clubs and activities on campus. Last year, a total of 204 Albright Lions were named to the All-MAC Academic teams, needing a GPA of 3.2 or higher to be named to the team. 36 different student-athletes held GPA's of 4.0.
