READING, Pa. – Albright Baseball (11-12-1) played Widener (11-12) at home prior to a four-game road trip. Through nine innings of play, the visiting Pride would take game one of the series 5-2.
Widener wasted no time getting their bats going and built a 5-0 lead after three innings before the Lions began to respond after.
Chris Gorla drove in the first one for the Lions by way of a hard-hit single past the opposing shortstop to bring home
Michael Avino. Avino finished the day with two hits in addition to a run scored.
The following inning,
Plyler Hunter would come through by way of a fielder's choice allowing
Tyler Boccelli to come around and further cut into the Pride's lead.
Landyn Shaw pitched six scoreless innings out of the bullpen keeping the Lions in the game until their final at bat. Shaw struck out three batters while only allowing three hits in relief.
Ultimately, the Pride's pitching would give them enough to leave Kelchner field with a road win for the game one of the series.
