NEWTOWN, Pa. – Women's tennis captured their third straight Middle Atlantic Conference (MAC) Commonwealth Championship on Saturday afternoon beating Messiah 4-2 on the Falcons home courts. Today, five Lions were named to the All-MAC Commonwealth teams.
Nadia Margaritov and
Michelle Timothy were both named to the First Team while
Elicia Aponte,
Allison Horick and
Alaina Smith were all named to the Second Team.
Margaritov had a fantastic year playing as the Lions #1. Margaritov went 15-3 this season with 14 of the 15 wins coming in straight sets. The first-year Lion has won nine of her last 10 matches. In the conference tournament, Margaritov was perfect 2-0 winning in the semifinals 6-1, 6-0 and in the finals 6-4, 6-1.
Timothy was named to the All-MAC First Team for the third time in her career and has made an All-MAC Team in all four seasons as a Lion. This season Timothy slotted into the #2 player for the Lions and finished the regular and championship season with a 13-5 record. Every win that Timothy earned this season came in straight sets.
Aponte wrapped up her junior season making an All-MAC Team for the third consecutive year. Aponte has improved her game each year since arriving on campus, being an All-MAC Honorable Mention in 2024 and back-to-back years of being named to the Second Team. In the 2025-2026 season, Aponte went 11-5 overall this season which included a stretch of eight straight victories.
Horick made it back-to-back seasons by being placed on the All-MAC Second Team this season. Last season Horick earned a spot on the First Team and was also named MAC Commonwealth Women's Tennis Rookie of the Year. Horick went 13-3 this season and now has a 28-3 overall record across two seasons for the Lions.
Smith went 12-3 this year ending the regular season on a nine-match winning streak. Smith has made an All-MAC Team in her first three seasons being an Honorable Mention in 2024 and being selected to the Second Team in 2025 and 2026.
Albright women's tennis will face Case Western Reserve in the first round of the NCAA Championships. The match will be played on the campus of Johns Hopkins University.
