ABINGTON, Pa. – Women's Soccer (4-2-1) hopped back on the road to face Penn State Abington (0-5-1). Through 90 minutes of play, neither team was able to find the go-ahead goal in the final minutes resulting in a 1-1 draw.
The Lions found the back of the net first and early off a goal from
Jaylin Sheffield courtesy of an assist from
Samantha Rosenberg. Sheffield finished the day with a game high three shots.
Halftime saw the Lions up 1-0 via Sheffield's goal in the final seconds of the 20
th minute and a superb defensive effort. The Lions have only surrendered six goals in seven contests so far this season.
Audrey Solt,
Kylei Grant and
Megan Chikezie each contributed with shots off the bench in a game where the Lions lacked no offensive chances.
As a team the Lions outshot Abington 11-7 and controlled the offensive momentum throughout majority of the game.
Brylie Jensen joined Sheffield with multiple shots via a pair of her own.
The only other goal of the day came by Abington in the 51
st minute as the two teams remained deadlocked the rest of the way.
