Mike Boyer enters his 13th season on the Albright football coaching staff in 2021. Boyer was elevated to Director of Football Operations in addition to working with the offensive line, after previously serving as a coach for safeties, wide recevivers, cornerbacks, and defensive tackles.
Boyer helped coach Lions left tackle Ethan Jones to All-MAC honorable mention in the 2019 season.
In 2017, Boyer developed the Albright special teams into a major force onto the field as the Lions led the MAC in punt return yards. He helped coach Kyle Dickerson to earn All-MAC second team honors as a returner, Grant Boehler to earn first team honors for special teams, and kicker Kevin Goetz to earn first team honors. As the wide receivers coach, he saw three wide receivers earn All-MAC honors in - Malik Jackson, Dickerson, and Mike Jordan - with Jackson earning first team honors. Albright finished 8-3 overall and earned a berth in the MAC-Centennial Bowl Series for the second straight season.
Boyer was part of a coaching staff that helped lead Albright to a MAC-Centennial Bowl Championship title in 2016 after the Lions posted an 8-3 overall record. Vinny Williams earned First Team All-MAC honors for his highlight-worthy play following the season.
Albright captured the Middle Atlantic Conference title in 2015 as the Lions finished the season with a 10-2 overall record. The Lions advanced to the second round of the NCAA playoffs after defeating Norwich 49-0 in Albright's first-ever home playoff game. Malik Gilmore and Vinny Williams were each named all-conference wide receivers following the season.
Albright went 8-3 with ECAC bowl championships in both 2012 and 2013. Boyer's cornerbacks totaled three All-MAC selections over those seasons, including consecutive honors for Chris Stephens.
Boyer comes to Albright from Boyertown Area High School, where he was the offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach from 2002 through 2007. Boyertown won the first league championship in school history when they won the PAC-10 championship in 2006.
That season the offensive unit recorded the most points in school history. Prior to coaching at Boyertown, Coach Boyer was the offensive coordinator and running backs coach at Exeter Senior High School from 1994 through 1998. Exeter won the league championship in 1997 and was the first team in the school’s history to qualify for the PIAA District III playoffs.
Coach Boyer is an alumnus of Exeter High School and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Kutztown University of Pennsylvania with a 3.64 GPA in secondary education with a concentration in History/Citizenship.
Boyer teaches in the Hamburg Area School District. He and his wife Cindy have four children, Elizabeth, Kellen, Conlan and Griffin.
