Robert Hollway Jr. is entering his second season on the Albright College coaching staff. He is responsible for coaching the defensive ends and will serve as assistant special teams’ coordinator and assistant recruiting coordinator.
Hollway graduated from the University of Wyoming in 2008. He was a 5 year student athlete on full scholarship at a competitive Division 1A school. While at Wyoming, Hollway played all positions on the defensive line, including end, tackle, and nose guard. He was a versatile player whose size and speed allowed him to contribute all over the field. While at Wyoming the Cowboy’s compiled impressive victories over Tennessee, Mississippi, Virginia, TCU, Utah, and most notably a win over UCLA in the 2004 Las Vegas Bowl. Between his junior and senior year Hollway appeared in 23 out of a possible 24 games.
Hollway went to high school in Richfield, Minnesota where he was a standout defensive linemen and offensive center at the Academy of Holy Angels. Hollway was a two time all conference player, two year team captain, and one year all-state defensive lineman. He was ranked as the 10th best player in Minnesota’s 2004 recruiting class on Rivals.com. Hollway also played hockey and was a dominant track and field - shot and discus thrower.
Hollway has a long lineage of current and former college and NFL coaches. His father Bob was a defensive end at the University of Michigan, and his uncle Mike, is the head football coach at Ohio Wesleyan University (1987-current) in Delaware Ohio. Hollway’s grandfather Bob Hollway played and coached at the University of Michigan. Additionally, he was the defensive coordinator for the Vikings from 1967-70 and 1978-86 and helped introduce the legendary “Purple People Eaters” under long time Vikings head coach Bud Grant. Hollway’s grandfather was also the Head Coach of the St. Louis Cardinals from 1971-73.
Hollway earned a BA degree in communications in 2008 from the University of Wyoming. In 2009, he coached the defensive line at East Ridge High School in Woodbury, Minnesota before joining the Albright College football team.
