Kevin Shupp

Kevin Shupp enters his second season as an assistant coach on the Albright men's lacrosse coaching stafff after being named to the position in 2015.

In his first year at Albright, the Lions advanced to the MAC Commonwealth Tournament and advanced to the semifinals.

Shupp comes to Albright from Piedmont College where he spent the 2014 and 2013 seasons as a graduate assistant coach. The Lions posted a 6-8 overall record last season, which included signature wins over Transylvania and Methodist.

In charge of the Piedmont defense, Shupp helped trim the Lions goals against average from the previous season while also helping to raise the team save percentage as well.

Shupp also spent a season as an assistant coach for Union County College. He worked primarily as a defensive and goalie specialist, but also assisted in all other facets of the game.

Shupp spent his playing career at Alvernia where he was a two-time captain for the men’s lacrosse team while also competing for the school’s men’s club ice hockey team as well.

Shupp was named to the MAC All-Sportsmanship Team in 2011 and twice was voted team most valuable player. Shupp ranks first all-time in saves for the Crusaders with 765 from 2009-12 and also tops the list in shutouts. Shupp is third in program history in save percentage at .543 showing, fourth all-time in goals against average and third in games played with 61.

Shupp also has coaching experience outside the collegiate ranks having served as an instructor and head coach with Building Blocks Lacrosse, which is an academy in New Jersey that provides year-round training to youth lacrosse players ages 4-18.  Having started with the club in 2012, Shupp spent most of his time working with goalies in small groups to improve technique through foundational drills designed to develop the elite level player.

Shupp graduated from Alvernia University with his Bachelor of Arts degree in criminal justice in May of 2012 and earned his Master of Business Administration degree in April of 2015.
