Frank Keating

Frank Keating is entering his fourth season as the head coach of the Lions' softball program.

He was announced as the new head softball coach at Albright College heading into 2014, following a record-breaking season at another local Division III institution.

Keating's rebuilding project continued in 2016 as Albright finished the season with a 24-16 overall record. The Lions were in the hunt for a berth into the MAC Commonwealth Tournament until the final weekend of the season. The year was highlighted by the Lions first-ever appearance in the NCAA East Region rankings.

Keating led the Lions to a 19-16 overall record in 2015, which marked Albright's first winning season since the 2005 season.

The Lions went 10-19 in 2014, which included a 5-11 mark in Commonwealth Conference play.

Keating engineered an impressive turnaround at Penn State-Berks in 2013. He inherited a program that had gone 12-26 in 2012 and led the Nittany Lions to a 36-5 record, which ranks as the greatest one-season improvement in Division III history. Penn State-Berks won the NEAC Championship and earned the school's first-ever NCAA tournament bid.

It was Penn State Berks first winning campaign since 2007, when the Nittany Lions were 17-14 overall. Berks went 19-1 in NEAC regular season play, sweeping Keuka College in the final two games of the NEAC tournament.

PSU-Berks faced Commonwealth opponent Lebanon Valley in their NCAA regional opener, losing to the Dutchmen and Utica College to end their magical run. That 2013 campaign included two winning streaks of 13 games.

The Nittany Lions batted .341 as a team while holding opponents to an average of .198. Berks' team ERA was just 1.65, led by first team All-American Jess Epler (17-1, 0.61 ERA on the mound; .615 batting average, 10 HRs, 62 RBIs at the plate).

Prior to taking over at PSU-Berks, Keating was the head coach at local Governor Mifflin High School for seven seasons. Mifflin won six straight Berks I titles, the 2011 Berks County championship, the 2009 District 3 crown and made five trips to the PIAA State Championship.

He has also coached at several camps, including Kutztown University's All Skills Camp and College Showcases, and conducted private instruction since 1993.

Keating has been a national Fastpitch softball player since 1978, while also serving as the general manager for five national championship teams (and seven ASA Pennsylvania State champion squads).

He was an Amateur Softball Association first team All-American in 2001, 2003 and 2008; and a third team All-American in 2002. He won the ASA national batting title in 2001, and was a two-time NAFA All-World selection. During the 2004 season, he was named to the International Congress Tournament of Champions All-World team as an infielder.

Keating graduated from Wilkes University in 1988 with a degree in accounting, and was a member of the varsity basketball team. He later earned a degree in 1997 from the Central Pennsylvania School of Commercial Banking at Bucknell University. He is a Mount Carmel Area graduate, where he was a three-sport athlete.

Keating is a Senior Vice President and Portfolio Mangement Team Leader at Customers Bank.
