Scot Adams enters his second season as Albright's head softball coach in 2018.
In 2017, the Lions just missed on a trip to the MAC Commonwealth tournament, finishing just two games out of a playoff spot. The Lions finished 17-19 overall and 6-10 in MAC Commonwealth play.
Adams became the Albright head coach after a distinquished career as an assistant coach at Lebanon Valley.
Adams comes to Albright following a very successful run as an assistant coach at fellow MAC Commonwealth member Lebanon Valley. In his seven season at LVC, the Dutchmen posted an overall record of 194-91-1 and made four NCAA Tournament appearances. Lebanon Valley had a MAC Commonwealth record of 80-28 during his tenure and won three conference titles.
Under Adams, LVC produced four straight MAC Commonwealth Pitchers of the Year from 2011-2014 in Laura Snyder '11, Kristen Palmerio '12, and Sam Derr '14 (twice).
In 2015, LVC ace Haley Neff was the MAC Commonwealth's best pitcher over the final two weeks of the season. She won 10 of her last 15 starts, including an NCAA Tournament Regional victory over Penn State Behrend after winning four MAC Commonwealth Championship Tournament outings en route to being named the weekend's most valuable player.
Derr set records in the spring of 2014, including a no-hitter in the NCAA Tournament, as she earned NFCA All-America honors in the circle and led LVC to a MAC Commonwealth title. In 2013, LVC's pitching staff ranked 18th in the nation in ERA (1.69), led by Derr and fellow MAC Commonwealth All-Conference pick Haley Neff as they went to the NCAA regional final with a 36-7-1 record.
Adams and the Dutchmen posted a 29-9 overall record and an 11-3 mark in MAC Commonwealth action in 2011. That spring, the pitching staff held a 1.46 ERA, second best in the league, and gathered four pitcher of the week awards.
In his first season with the Dutchmen, Adams helped lead LVC deep into the NCAA Tournament with a staff ERA of 2.18 and a 34-13 record.
Adams played fastpitch for 17 seasons and was a member of numerous teams from Pennsylvania, New York, New Jersey, Maryland and Massachusetts. Adams has also attended several National Tournaments including six appearances at the Amateur Softball Association of America, five trips to the North American Fastpitch Association National Tournament, three National Softball Association Tournaments and three International Softball Congress International Tournaments.
In 2006, Adams and his teammates won the NSA National Championship. He also went on to win the Pennsylvania State Championship in 1999, 2000 and 2006. Adams' career highlight came in 2007 when his team won the ISC Tournament of Champions title in Kitchener, Ontario, becoming the first American team to win the championship.
Other accolades include being named to the NAFA second team All-World in 1999 and 2002, and a first team ASA All-American selection in 2005.
A former pitcher, Adams tallied 19 career no-hitters, 10 of which were perfect games.
