Shawn Barczynski '16

Shawn Barczynski enters her sixth season as an assistant coach for the Albright Women’s Basketball program in 2023-24.

In Barczynski's six seasons as an assistant coach Barczynski's has helped guide the Lions to 72 wins, three MAC Commonwealth tournament berths and one NCAA appearance. In addition to the teams success Barcynski has assisted in multiple Albright student athletes being named MAC Commonwealth players of the week and helping them earn MAC Commonwealth season long awards. 

Barczynski has assisted in leading the Lions to their first home playoff game since the 2017-18 season during the 2022-23 campaign. In addition, Barczynski was a huge part in the success of standout Gabby Boggs. Barczynski helped Boggs reach and surpass multiple program records as well seeing Boggs finish as the schools 3rd all time leading scorer. 

A 2014 Albright graduate, Barczynski earned a bachelor’s degree in communications/journalism and was a four-year member of the women’s basketball team.  In her career at Albright, she played in 63 games and contributed 220 points, 218 rebounds, and 27 steals to the program.  During Barczynski’s first year, Coach Luck earned her 100th win.

Following graduation, Barczynski was accepted into the So You Wanna Be a Coach Program in Nashville, Tenn. and also spent time working basketball games and educational camps both locally and within the MAC Conference.

Barczynski held a graduate assistant position as the Assistant Coordinator of Leadership and Engagement at Rosemont College and earned her master’s degree in strategic leadership in 2016.  Additionally, she served as an admissions counselor at Berks Technical Institute.

A 2010 graduate of Governor Mifflin High School, Barczynski lives locally and is currently a project coordinator at Albright.
