READING, Pa. - In their 2009 debut the Albright Men's and Women's Swim teams had their hands full hosting Division II Bloomsburg University Saturday afternoon at the Natatorium. Both Bloomsburg teams walked away with victories as the men's team defeated Albright by the score 136-121, and the women's team defeated the red and white by the score of 145-107.
Overall both teams swam very well for their first meet of the season. On the men's side a total of seven first place finishes were recorded. For the women's team the Lady Lions tallied five first place finishes.
Junior #Eric Kramer# recorded three individual top finishes in the 200 free (1:48.97), 500 free (4:58.98), and the 50 free (22.35). Posting three first places of his own was #Chris Sheerer# in the 100 back (54.78), 200 back (2:00.88), and the 200 IM (2:02.09)
Recording the Lions only first place relay finish was Kramer, #Jack Kubacki#, #Sean Zajdel#, and #Tim Pierce# in the 200 free relay (1:31.05).
On the women's side #Allie Fies# earned her first top finish of the year in the 200 free with a time of 2:02.11. Also picking up a first place finish was #Katy Oeste# in the 100 free (57.15). Freshman #Madison Hauk# made a strong first impression Saturday afternoon picking up first place finishes in the 100 fly (1:02.80) and 200 IM (2:21.72).
Earning the Lions a first place finish in the 200 free relay was Oeste, #Laruen Onusko#, Fies and #Aimee Snyder# with a time of 1:43.40.
Swimming will return to action on Tuesday when they host Lebanon Valley College in their first Middle Atlantic Conference meet of the season at 6 p.m. in the Natatorium.
