Lion Swimmers Split with Widener in Conference Meet

READING, Pa. - It was another tough Saturday afternoon as the Lions hosted the Pride of Widener University in the Natatorium. The women's team picked up a strong win as they downed the Pride 109-93. In the men's meet Widener defeated the host Lions by the score of 124-78.

For the women's team Kelly Williams picked up another win in the 1,000 yard free with a time of 11:39.55. Allie Fies continued her impressive performances notching wins in both the 200 free (2:01.47) and 100 yard free (56.57). Also earning wins against the Pride was freshman Madison Hauk in the 200 fly with a time of 2:22.83 and 200 breast with a time of 2:37.06.

Aimee Snyder claimed a victory in the 200 IM (2:17.44) and was joined by Katy Oeste who earned another win in the 50 free (25.80). Recently named senior co-captain Sarah Noonan also swam away with an individual victory to help the Lady Lions cause, taking first place in 500 free with a time of 5:42.37.
Diving into the men's meet, the Lions had their hands full with the reigning conference champions. Amongst the team's top swimmers was junior co-captain Eric Kramer who tok first in the 1,000 free (10:18.77) and 500 free (4:56.91). Matt O'Neill also took first in Saturday's meet with a first place finish in the 200 fly with a time of 2:06.15.

Albright Swimming will return to the water next Saturday when they travel to Arcadia University for a 1 p.m. Middle Atlantic Conference meet.
