Lion Swimmers Close Out Swarthmore Invitational

SWARTHMORE, Pa. – On day two of the Swarthmore College Swimming Invitational, the Lions continued their dominant performances throughout Saturday's long competition. For the women's team the red and white brought home a total of 10 top-5 finishes, while on the men's side the Lions total four first place finishes, and combined for an additional five top-5 finishes.

As a team the Lady Lions closed out the eight team field two day invitational in 4th place, while the men's team finished out the invitational in 3rd place.

To start off the day, the women's 200 medley relay team of Aimee Snyder, Katy Oeste, Madison Hauk, and Allie Fies took third place and 32 points with a time of 1:56.90. Kari Keller then picked up a fourth place finish in the 400 IM with a time of 5:10.28.

In the 100 fly Hauk closed out the event in fifth place with a time of 1:03.35, while Sarah Noonan touched the wall with a time of 1:07.28 to take ninth place. Oeste was another top-5 finisher for the red and white in the 100 breast with a time of 1:12.05 (4th place).

As the afternoon continued the Lady Lions saw their 800 free relay team record a third place time of 8:28.32, while their 400 free relay team finished in second place with a time of 3:46.28.

Making the switch to the men's side of Saturday's invitational, Adam Kurtz, Eric Kramer, and Chris Sheerer each earned top times. Kramer was a duel winner in the 200 free (1:46.88) and the 100 free (48.34). Kurtz swam away with a first place finish in the 100 fly (53.75) and Sheerer in the 100 back (52.98).

Sheerer also brought home a second place time in the 400 IM and a third place time in the 200 fly. The 800 free relay team of Matt Bauer, Kurtz, AJ Paulson, and Kramer finished in fourth place with a time of 7:40.87, while the 400 free relay team of Tom Pierce, Jack Kubacki, Sheerer and Kramer finished in second place with a time of 3:17.15.

Swimming will return to the water next Saturday when they host Cabrini College in the Natatorium at 1 p.m.
