Field Hockey Falls with Time Expired

Box Score

READING, Pa. - With no time left in regulation, the Richard Stockton Ospreys (2-7) were granted a penalt-corner and one last chance to change a 0-0 score for 70 minutes. Alison Paulus started the corner for the Ospreys and found Nancy White who was able to slap a shot off Lions goalie #Kaitlyn Johnstone# that ricocheted into the back of the cage to hand the red and white a 1-0 defeat Thursday evening at Shirk Stadium.

With one minute left in the game, Albright had their best chance pull out the victory. #Kelly Zepp# received a penalty stroke opportunity, but Stockton goalie, Debi O'Kane made a diving save and stopped Zepp's chance at giving her team the victory.

O'Kane made five saves in the game, including another diving attempt to rob #Caitlin Feldman# of a goal. It is the second shutout victory of the season for the Ospreys, who also shut out fellow Commonwealth opponent, Arcadia University.

The first 35 minutes saw neither team record a single shot on goal. It was not until the second half that the both teams offense began to take chances. Through the final 35 minutes of play Albright and Stockton combined for six shots respectively.

The game winner was the only shot of the night recorded by Richard Stockton. Both defenses played spectacularly keeping the ball in the middle third of the field for most of the evening.

Albright will return to the field this Saturday when they travel to Virginia to take on new conference rival, Shenandoah University. Game time is set for 3 p.m.
