READING, Pa. - It proved to be hot and tough Saturday afternoon for the Albright Field Hockey team (1-2) as the faced off against non-conference opponent Immaculata University (1-1) at Shirk Stadium.
The Might Macs who fell to Commonwealth Conference member Widener University in their season opener downed the Lady Lions by the final score of 3-0. Albright, who totaled seven shots in the contest, had a variety of opportunities throughout the afternoon.
Immaculata closed out the day with a total of 15 shots, and were led by the duo of Katherine Becker and Kathleen Garrity. Becker recorded a goal and an assist, while Garrity picked up a pair of assists of her own. Immaculata also led the contest in penalty strokes with four. Albright tallied three penalty strokes of their, all of which were in the second half.

After a scoreless first half, the Mighty Macs jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the 42nd minute. Lauren Bigos who scored the only goal for Immaculata against Widener, broke the scoreless draw on a redirect to the far post. Immaculata then took a 2-0 lead after a made Emily Hallett penalty stroke. The game's final goal was netted with just four seconds left.
Johnstone initially came up with a huge one-on-one save. Unfortunately, Garrity was there to pick up the rebound and blasted it past the Lion goalie. Becker, who was standing in front of the goal, redirected Garrity's shot giving her the final score of the afternoon.
Field Hockey returns to action on Tuesday when they host Neumann University at 7 p.m. at Shirk Stadium.
