Swimming Sweeps Misericordia in Conference Meet

Meet Results

DALLAS, Pa. - After nearly a one month hiatus the Lion swimmers returned their dominant ways as both teams picked up huge conference wins over Misericordia University Saturday afternoon. The men's team downed the host Cougars by the final score of 154-108, while the women's team picked up a 140-122 victory.

To start off the afternoon the red and white recorded back-to-back second place finishes in the 400 medley relay. For the women's team their finished just one second behind Misericordia (4:14.56), while the men's team trailed the Cougars by a total of eight seconds (3:49.43).

In the 1,000 free Kelly Williams and Sarah Noonan took first and second place with times of 11:39.17 and 11:47.96 respectively. Continuing the Lions winning ways on the men's side was Eric Kramer who defeated his closest opponent by nearly 10 seconds (10:47.21).

Allie Fies was the next Lady Lion to take first, this time in the 200 free with a time of 2:00.86. AJ Paulson, Matt Bauer, and Zach McElheny took first through third in the men's 200 to keep the Lions streak alive. The 100 yard back even saw another Albright winner, this time in Aimee Snyder who touched the wall with a time of 1:03.43

For the men's 200 free, Adam Kurtz brought home another win for the red and white with a time of 57.00. Following three straight wins by the Cougars in the women's and men's 100 breast and the women's 200 fly, Albright returned to their winning ways with a Sean Spellacy win in the men's 200 fly (2:13.35).

Misericordia then took first in the 50 free, but any momentum they were looking to gain from the win, was quickly washed away with a Kramer victory in the men's 50 free (22.10). Fies and Jack Kubacki then added some more breathing room on the scoreboard for their teams with wins in the 100 frees.

Snyder claimed her second win of the day in the 200 back with a time of 2:19.24, which was followed up with a Kurtz win in the men's side of the 200 back (2:05.17).

The Cougars would earn three more individual first place finishes before Albright was able to swim away with the win.

Swimming returns to the water on Tuesday when they host Elizabethtown College at 6 p.m. in the Natatorium.
