Box Score
Glenside, PA –
Andre Murphy came off the bench and had a perfect night from the field in leading the Lions (14-2/5-1 CC) to an 86-63 victory over the Arcadia University Knights (5-10/0-6 CC). Murphy's 14 points were a season high for the senior guard, who was four of four from three-point range, and also two of two from the charity stripe on the evening.
However, leading the team in scoring was sophomore forward,
Shane Irwin, who scored 16 in only twelve minutes, on 8-11 shooting to lead all scorers for the visiting Lions.
Also netting 14 points was junior guard,
Zac Shaeffer, who shot 60% from the field to notch another double-digit effort for himself and the red and white.
The Lions took a 44-25 lead to the break after dominating the first 20 minutes of Wednesday night's contest. The red and white shot a torrid 58% from the field throughout the game, including 47% from behind the arc.
Albright's big men also dominated the rebounding line, totaling 36 to the Knight's 26.
Leading all scorers with 18 points was Jason Thompson of Arcadia. He drilled four three-pointers in his effort to try and keep the Knights close with the conference-leading Lions.
Renard Smith (11 points) and Jose Ortiz (10 points) joined Thompson in double figures for the home team, but the trio's efforts would not be enough thanks to a balanced and efficient attack at the hands of Coach
Rick Ferry's Lions.
The Lions will look to stay hot and continue to stay at the top of the Commonwealth Conference when they return home this Saturday to the Bollman Center to take on the Lebanon Valley Dutchmen at 4 p.m.
