READING, Pa. - It truly was a great send off for the senior members of the Albright swim teams as both squads defeated visiting Susquehanna University Saturday afternoon in the Natatorium. The men's team earned a 117-87 win, while the women's pulled out a huge 108-97 victory.
Saturday's meet marked the final home meet in the Natatorium for swimmers
Sarah Noonan,
Erika Giberson,
AJ Paulson, and
Jack Kubacki. Each senior ended their careers at home on a great note earning top finishes throughout the meet.
To get the afternoon started the men's 200 medley relay team took first with a time of 1:41.22, while the women picked up a second place finish in their relay with a time of 1:57.47.
Eric Kramer picked up another victory in the 1,000 free as the only competitor for the Lions. The junior closed out his first individual event with a time of 10:04.71, which set a new personal best.
In her first individual heat of the day Noonan took second in the 1,000 free as she touched the wall with a time of 11:28.83.
Allie Fies (2:00.67) tallied her first win of the afternoon in the 200 free, with Kubacki (1:53.03) earning a third place finish on the men's side.
The 50 free saw back-to-back winners for the Lions in the form of
Katy Oeste (25.94) and
Tim Pierce (22.63). Junior standout
Chris Sheerer broke the pool record in the 400 IM for the second consecutive week recording a new time of 4:17.22.
From there the men's team claimed first place finishes in three of the final five individual events as well as the 400 free relay. On the women's side the Lady Lions swam away with wins in the 100 free, 100 breast, and 400 free relay.
The victory in the 400 free relay is what gave Albright the win as the team of Giberson,
Lauren Onusko, Noonan, and Oeste dominated the event with a time of 3:48.75.
Swimming will now get ready for MAC's which are set to begin on Friday, February 12th in Wilkes-Barre.
