READING, Pa. – Despite having only two matches this fall the men's tennis team showed tremendous improvement as they played an extremely hard match with Penn State Harrisburg. Unfortunately the visiting Lions were able to sweep Saturday's non-conference match with a 9-0 decision at the Albright Tennis Courts.
In the toughest match of the afternoon, sophomore #
Kenneth Ip# went the distance with Harrisburg's Nate Nulchinsky. After falling 3-6 in the first set, Ip battled back to take a 7-6 win in the second to force the tie-breaker. The two went back and forth, but it was Nulchinsky who earned the decision with a final score of 10-8.
Also having a busy afternoon was #
Mike Callahan#, who despite falling at fourth singles played another extremely close match. In the first set, Harrisburg's Vincent Lepore pulled out a 7-6 victory. In the second set, Lepore secured the win a 6-1 final.
Members of the Men's Tennis team will next compete at the MAC Individual Tournament in Wilkes-Barre. That tournament is scheduled to begin on October 16.
