BLOOMSBURG, Pa. - The Albright swim teams opened up their 2010-11 campaign against some tough competition as they took on Bloomsburg University Saturday afternoon. Bloomsburg swept Saturday's meet recording a 151-103 win on the women's side and a 137-114 win on the women's side.
For the Lions, Saturday's meet was a great test for both squads as they look to build off of last year's successes. On the men's side, #
Eric Kramer# picked-up right where he left off recording first place finishes in 200 yard free (1:49.09), the 100 yard free (49.84), and the 500 free (4:58.90).
Saturday's meet got off to a good start for both squads as the women's 200 yard medley relay placed third with a time of 1:56.14. Their male counterparts placed second in their race with a time of 1:40.40.
In the 1,000 yard free Bloomsburg saw away the top-3 finishes on both sides. After that senior
Allie Fies took second in the 200 yard free with a time of 2:30.48. Newcomer #
Tricia Janowiak# made her presence felt immediately as she took first in the 100 yard back with a time of 1:04.52, beating out teammate #
Aimee Snyder# by .34 of a second.
The men's 100 back saw the return of #
Chris Sheerer#, who placed second with an overall time of 55.59. #Madi Hauk# got her sophomore season off to a solid start as she placed fourth in the 100 yard breast with a final time of 1:12.28.

Adam Kurtz# picked up a fourth place finish in the 200 yard fly (2:10.84). In the very quick 50 yard free, #
Katy Oeste# led the women's team with a third place finish (25.89), while on the men's side #
Tim Pierce# took fourth (23.04).
After her the 50, Oeste returned to the water for the 100 free in which she took second with a final time of 57.08. The 200 back saw Sheerer place second (2:03.89), with Kurtz finishing just two spots behind him (2:06.62).
Hauk would go on to take first and third in her final two events the 100 fly (1:03.55) and the 200 IM (2:21.69), while Sheerer saw away with a first place finish in the 200 IM (2:05.18) to close out the afternoon for the Lions.
Swimming returns to action on Tuesday when they travel to Lebanon Valley College for a 6 p.m. conference meet.
