ALLENTOWN, Pa. - Led by
Gia Boscola, Albright field hockey (9-9) recorded a 2-1 non-conference win over Cedar Crest College (4-14). Boscola who now has a team best 12 goals on the season netted both goals late midway through the second half, Wednesday afternoon.
Wednesday's win marked only the third time in program history that Albright field hockey has recorded nine wins in a single season. The last time the Lady Lions recorded a nine win season was in 1999.
After falling into a 1-0 hole right before halftime, the Lady Lions battled back in the second half, when Boscola scored her first unassisted goal of the day in the 47th minute. She then added the game-winner 13 minutes later, also on an unassisted play.
Albright combined for 19 shots in the match, with 13 of those ending up on goal. For Cedar Crest their lone goal came from Jessica Macko, who also had a team best four shots in the contest. Combined Cedar Crest totaled 13 shots in the match. The Lions held a 9-2 advantage in penalty corners, and freshman goalie
Marguerite DeLucas recorded seven saves.
With Wednesday's win, DeLucas now holds the single season wins record at Albright with nine.
Field Hockey returns to action tomorrow when they travel to King's College for a 7 p.m. non-conference match.
