COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – The Albright swim teams return to their winning ways as they both recorded wins over Ursinus College Wednesday evening. The men's team defeated their non-conference opponents 114-90, while the women's team defeated the Bears by the score 110-95.
The evening got off to a good start for the women's 400 yard medley relay team as they picked up four points with a second place finish. On the men's side the team of
Chris Sheerer,
Joe Deighan,
Adam Kurtz, and
Mike McBride swam away with a first place finish and 11 points (3:42.85).
Diving right into individual competition senior
Kelly Williams added nine points to the Lady Lions score with a first place finish in the 1,000 free. Williams finished the heat three seconds ahead of Ursinus' Kaylani Wertman with a time of 11:41.06.
Senior
Eric Kramer added another win to his resume in the 1,000 yard free as he finished the event with a time of 10:19.18, which was five seconds ahead of the closest competitor. After that
Allie Fies placed first in the 200 free with a time of 2:01.62, while Kurtz took second in the men's 200 free with a final time of 1:50.38.
Tricia Janowiak and
Katy Oeste then placed first and second respectively in the quick 50 yard free. Janowiak recorded a time of 25.31 with Oeste right behind her with a time of 25.66.
Tim Pierce powered to a second place finish in the men's 50 free with a time of 23.01.
Aimee Snyder then took first in the 200 yard IM (2:17.11) and the 100 yard free (55.36). Also swimming away with first place finishes was Sheerer in the 200 IM (2:02.97) and the 200 back (2:00.26), Kramer in the 100 free (48.62), Fies in the 500 free (5:34.09), and Deighan in the 200 breast (2:19.81).
To close out the night the women's 400 free relay team of Snyder, Amanda Fisher,
Lauren Onusko, and Fies recorded a first place time of 3:46.99. The men's 400 free relay team of Kurtz, McBride, Pierce, and Kramer swam away with the final top time (3:23.65) of the night to secure the men's win.
Swimming returns to the Natatorium this Saturday when they host Arcadia University at 2 p.m.
