READING, Pa. - The Albright Lions had a very busy afternoon taking on non-conference opponent Washington and Jefferson College and MAC rival Messiah College. On the men's side, Albright tied W&J 61-61, and defeated Messiah 101-21. For the women, Albright fell to W&J 85-57, but would rise above Messiah 97-24, Saturday afternoon in the Natatorium.
The Lions started their afternoon with a first place finish from
Eric Kramer in the 1,000 yard free with a time of 10:12.41.
Rainer Floeter came in third (10:51.42), but dropped 18.65 seconds off his time making this race his personal best.
Allie Fies followed that with a first in the 200 yard free with a time of 1:59.71.
Tricia Janowiak placed first in the 100 yard backstroke clocking in at 1:01.90.
Katy Oeste and
Kari Keller helped out the Lady Lions with a first and second place finish in the 100 breaststroke. Oeste recorded a time of 1:11.36 with Keller right behind her with a time of 1:11.65.
Joe Deighan had a time of 1:03.43 placing first for the men's 100 yard breaststroke.
Adam Kurtz placed second in the 200 yard fly with a time of 2:06.54. Fies swam to an extremely close second place finish in the 50 free clocking in at 26.05. Kramer put another first under his belt in the 50 free with a time of 22.01.
Mike McBride put up a 50.04 in the 100 yard free placing first and beating his personal best. Keller and
Matt Bauer both placed second in the 200 yard breaststroke Keller with a 2:37.43 and Bauer putting up a 2:29.75 dropping 6.05 seconds off his time.
For his third win of the afternoon Kramer placed first in the 500 yard freestyle with a time of 4:52.05. Kurtz followed him in the 100 yard fly placing first with a time of 54.48. Deighan got his second win of the afternoon in the 200 yard IM with a time of 2:01.49.
The Lady Lions afternoon came to a close when the 400 yard free relay team of Janowiak, Oeste,
Lauren Onusko, and Fies came in second with a time of 3:45.55. The men placed first in their 400 free relay as they clocked in at 3:18.97.
Swimming returns to action on December 12 when they take part in the two-day Swarthmore College Invite.
