CHESTER, Pa. - Looking to pull off a huge win, the Lions traveled to Widener University to face the Pride. Unfortunately, it was Widener who walked away with the wins Saturday afternoon as Albright fell to the Pride 109-96 on the men's side and 106-91 on the women's side.
To start off the afternoon, Widener took first in both 400 yard medley relays. Placing second in the women's relay was
Tricia Janowiak, Kari Keler, Madi Hauk, and
Amanda Fisher. For the men's team
Sean Spellacy,
Matt Bauer,
Matt Redell, and
Bobby McNair placed third.
Moving into the individual competition,
Kelly Williams finished third in the 1,000 yard free with a time of 11:45.12.
Joe Deighan won the men's 1,000 yard free with a career best time of 10:29.53.
Senior
Allie Fies picked-up a second place finish in the 200 yard free with her final time of 2:03.16. Her male counterpart
Eric Kramer swam away with the top time in the men's 200 yard free, as he finished the heat with a time of 1:47.10.
Tricia Janowiak and
Katy Oeste finished in second and third place respectively in the 50 yard free, while
Mike McBride and Tim Peirce recorded a third and fourth place finish in the men's 50 free.
In the 200 yard IM,
Aimee Snyder finished in second place by .46 of a second (2:16.52) behind Widener's Laura Farrar.
Chris Sheerer defeated his closest opponent by three seconds to take the men's 200 IM. The senior recorded a final time of 2:00.78.
Kramer and Sheerer each earned their second, first place finishes later in the afternoon. Kramer swam away with the top time in the 100 free (48.41), while Sheerer took the top time in the 200 yard back (2:00.27).
Sophomore
Adam Kurtz also recorded a top time, as he took the 500 yard free with a final time of 5:04.02. To close out the afternoon, both 400 yard free relay teams earned first place finish. The women's team ended the relay with a time of 3:48.27, while the men's team recorded a time of 3:18.94.
Swimming returns to the water on Wednesday when they travel to Ursinus College for a 6 p.m. non-conference meet.
