Women's Basketball to Face Cabrini at Madison Square Garden

READING, Pa. – For the first time in the history of Albright College women's basketball the Lady Lions will play on the grandest stage in all of sports and entertainment, when they face Cabrini College in Madison Square Garden.

The meeting between the two teams will take place on January 3 at 9:30 p.m. in New York City and will follow the Division I men's game between St. John's University and Georgetown University.

"The team is very excited for the opportunity to play at Madison Square Garden. We are fortunate to be able to play Cabrini College in such a historic and exciting sports venue. There are not many division III schools that are able to say they were able to play in the Garden, now Albright can say they did,” said head women's coach Janice Luck.

Cabrini College will be making their fourth appearance in Madison Square Garden, where they currently hold a 3-0 record all-time. The Cavaliers became the first Division III women's basketball program to ever compete at the Garden back on January 28, 2008.

Albright will be the first non-Colonial States Athletic Conference (CSAC) opponent the Cavaliers have faced having taken on the College of Notre Dame (Md.), Neumann University, and Immaculata University.

Last season, the red and white defeated Cabrini by the final score of 47-45 in their 2009-10 season opener at the Bollman Center. This season, senior Jessica McGinness leads the Lady Lions averaging 15.6 points per game, while freshman Meghan Boyle ranks second averaging over 12 points and rebounds per game. Last week, she became the first player in program history to be named to the D3Hoops.com Team of the Week.
