READING, Pa. – Steven Lanpher has officially been hired as the 10^th head women's basketball coach in school history on Tuesday September 15^th as announced by the college's athletic department and Athletic Director Rick Ferry. Lanpher brings decades of coaching experience with his latest stop being at Division I Cleveland State University.

Lanpher will embark on his first season with the program this November following the departure of Alyssa Parsons earlier this year. At Cleveland State, Lanpher coordinated recruitment efforts while monitoring the academic status of his players and assisted with implementing daily practice plans. In his lone season with Cleveland State, the program finished with a 26-10 record and took home eighth place in the WNIT.

His proven track record of building winning cultures, developing his players as both students and athletes, and overall success across different levels of play made him both an outstanding candidate and ideal leader as we move forward into a new era with this program" said Athletic Director Rick Ferry. 
 
Lanpher's NCAA coaching journey began in 2002 as the head women's basketball coach at Norwich University. At Norwich, Lanpher recorded a 92-28 record including a conference championship and tournament appearance and at one point had the team ranked first in the nation in scoring defense. Lanpher also received recognition as the conference's coach of the year during his Norwich tenure.

Following his success in Norwich, Lanpher spent time coaching women's basketball at the Division I level beginning as the associate head coach at the University of Vermont. Over the course of four years with the Catamounts, Lanpher helped see the program to a pair of America East championships and NCAA tournament appearances while coordinating the program's recruiting efforts. The Catamounts posted a 92-40 record during Lanpher's time with the program. 
 
Lanpher's next stop took him to the University of Massachusetts at Amherst where he spent two seasons as the women's basketball associate head coach. 
 
In 2012 Lanpher was named the head women's basketball coach at the New Jersey Institute of Technology where he led the Highlanders for six seasons which included the program's first winning season and conference tournament championship in their Division I history. 
 
Lanpher's journey eventually took him back to Division III as the head women's basketball coach at Randolph College. In six years with the Wildcats, Lanpher led the program to five straight conference tournament appearances while setting the program record for wins (19) and remains the only coach in program history with a winning record.

Lanpher is a graduate of the College of St. Joseph where he earned a Master of Education and has been a member of the Women's Basketball Coaches Association since 2001.
