WILKES-BARRE, Pa. – After just ten events the Albright men's and women's swim teams have found themselves amongst the top squads at this year's Middle Atlantic Conference Championship meet. Leading the men's team through the first day of competition was junior

The Lancaster native not only swam away with a new program, Catholic Youth Center pool, and Middle Atlantic Conference championship meet record in the 200 IM, but he also earned an NCAA “B” cut as well with an amazing 1:53.79 finish. Sheerer claimed his second NCAA "B" cut later in the day when he recorded a final time of 51.10 seconds in the 100 backstroke as part of the record setting 400 medley relay team.
Since coming to Albright, Sheerer has dominated this event both at MAC's and throughout his three seasons with the Lions. He also helped the 200 yard freestyle relay team place second to start the afternoon with a time of 1:26.53.
For the women's team,

Switching over to the men's 500 free,
Eric Kramer led the red and white with a sixth place finish (4:56.10), which was then followed up by Matthew Bauer in seventh place (4:59.86, new personal best), and
Zach McElheny in eighth place (5:03.25).
Moving into the quick 50 free Katy Oeste placed fourth for the Lady Lions with a time of 25.09, while

Their male counterparts also swam away with a first place finish in the 400 medley relay. Sheerer,
Jordan Hash,
Adam Kurtz, and Kramer earned a combined time of 3:29.97 to set a new Catholic Youth Center, Middle Atlantic Conference championship, and program record. The original record was set in 2006 by Widener University.
