ANNVILLE, Pa. – In their toughest challenge yet of the 2010 season, the Lady Lions (6-4/1-1 Commonwealth) fell to nationally ranked Lebanon Valley College (7-0/1-0 CC) by the final score of 8-0 Tuesday afternoon at the LVC Field Hockey Stadium.
Having one of the busiest afternoons of her young career was freshman goalie #
Marguerite DeLucas# who totaled 31 saves in Tuesday's conference match. The West Reading native went toe-to-toe with some of the best players in Division III field hockey, and truly held her own.
Her 31 stops were just six short of tying the single game saves record which was set in 2000 by Alison Anders. The Dutchmen held Albright to just one shot in the contest, which bounced off the post early in the first half. #
Kaitlyn Pietrusewicz# took the Lions only shot, which also led the red and white to their only penalty corner.
All three first half goals were scored in a nine minute window. After the halftime break, the Dutchmen tacked on the final five goals of the game to pick-up their seventh win of the season. Going into Tuesday's match, the Dutchmen were ranked fourth in the nation on the latest NFHCA Coaches Poll.
Field Hockey returns to action on Thursday when they travel to King's College for a 7 p.m. non-conference match.
