KUTZTOWN, Pa. – The 2011 indoor track and field schedule got off to a great start as
Justin Gewirtz and
Danisha Higgs both set new program records in the men's high jump and the women's 55 meter dash. Gewirtz's record breaking performance shattered the school record which had stood since 1993, while Higgs record breaking performance broke the previous record set in 2001.
Gewirtz's record setting jump was marked at an astonishing 6-07.50 feet. That mark broke the original by more than two feet. Even after he broke the record and secured the victory, Gewirtz was not done, as he flirted with a height over 6 feet 10 inches. On top of setting the new record, Gewirtz provisionally qualified for the 2011 NCAA Division III track and field meet.
