ELIZABETHTOWN, Pa. – After one of their strongest performances of the season this past Saturday, the Albright swim teams made quick work of their final Middle Atlantic Conference opponent as the men's team defeated Elizabethtown College 117-60, while the women's team edged the Blue Jays 101-94 Tuesday evening.
Albright got the evening off to a great start as both the men's and women's 400 yard medley relay teams swam away with wins. The top men's team posted a combined time of 3:55.16, while the top women's team recorded a final time of 4:24.13.
In the 1,000 yard free
Allie Fies took first with her time of 11:20.74. For the men's team
Matt Redell recorded a final time of 11:18.64.
Madison Hauk and
Mike McBride continued the winning ways for the Lions as they both finished in first place in the 200 yard free with final times of 2:07.26 and 1:55.62 respectively.
Freshman
Tricia Janowiak recorded another first place finish in the quick yard 50 free with her time of 25.78 seconds.
Matt Bauer swam away with a first place finish in the 400 IM (4:36.67), while
Chris Sheerer recorded his lone first place finish in the 200 butterfly (2:10.36).
Fies recorded her second first place finish, this time in the 100 free with a final time of 56.10 seconds.
Aimee Snyder and
Joe Deighan were winners in their respective 200 yard backstroke heats. Snyder took first with a time of 2:20.71, with Deighan a final time of 2:03.90.
Hauk and senior
Eric Kramer recorded the final first place finishes for the Lions as both swimmers placed first in the 500 yard freestyle. Hauk's time of 5:33.02 was six seconds ahead of her closest competitor. For Kramer his time of 4:55.85 lead all competitors by as much as 16 seconds.
Swimming returns to the water on Saturday when they host the Ocean County College at 11 a.m. in the Natatorium.
