Box Score
COLLEGEVILLE, Pa. – Following a huge 12-0 run to tie the game at 53-53, with just under 20 seconds to play in regulation, Ursinus College's Lindsay Teuber was able to score what would become the game-winning lay-up as the Bears (12-7) managed to sneak by women's basketball (6-12) by the final score of 55-53 Monday evening at Hallferich Hall.
Scoring the then equalizer was
MariLynn McMonagle on her final lay-up of the night. After Ursinus retook the lead, the Lions called another timeout. With the game plan drawn out, the red and white returned to the court. Looking for that key opportunity and with time quickly winding down, senior
Jessica McGinness went for the game-winner. Unfortunately, her lay-up did not hit its mark and Ursinus was able to sneak out the non-conference victory.
Prior to the busy final minute of play, the Lady Lions had a firm grip on Monday's match-up, especially in the first half as they shot over 48% on 14-of-29 shooting. However a slow start and an early 11-2 run by the Bears shifted the momentum back in favor of the home team.
Ursinus on the night shot 32.4% from the field and 36.8% from three point range. Albright also had a productive night from behind the arc as they shot 40%. At the line the Lions held a 77.8% to 33.3% advantage.
McMonagle led the contest with 16 points as she shot 50% from the field and 100% at the line. McGinness was the only other double-figure scorer for Albright as she totaled 13 points.
Rose Williamson combined for a game-high 11 boards and totaled three blocks.
The Bears had a trio of double-figure scorers with Teuber leading the way with 15 points. She also managed 10 rebounds to earn the games only double-double. Alex Shivers totaled 12 points, and Jaclyn Hilf finished with 11.
Women's basketball returns to action on Wednesday when they travel to Widener University for a 6 p.m. conference game.
