Playing their fourth straight home game and seventh in 19 days, the Albright College field hockey team ended its homestand on a high note with a 2-0 victory over DeSales on Tuesday.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Pietrusewicz and senior Beth Moran scored from the outside as Albright overcame a solid performance by DSU goalkeeper Victoria DelToro (12 saves).

Pietrusewicz scored the opener with under 22 minutes remaining, hitting a shot into the right side of the goal, off Rose Casesi's corner. She hit another blast on a corner three minutes later that was kicked away by DelToro.

With 12:26 to play, Moran made it 2-0 by sneaking a shot it. Victoria Brito contributed with a dummy fake that left the goalie no time to react to the shot.

The Lions earned a penalty stroke in the dying minutes but DelToro stopped Pietrusewicz's attempt. Albright goalie Marguerite DeLucas made a nice reaction save on Alison Malatesta's redirect to preserve her third shutout of the season.

DeLucas had begun the game with a triple-save off a corner (stopping Alyssa Knappenberger then stuffing Sam Lavin on two rebound attempts). It was the only three saves she was forced to make in the opening period.

DelToro came up with a string of outstanding kick saves to keep Albright at bay in the first half. Four minutes in she made a diving kick save on Pietrusewicz's shot off the corner, and later kicked away Dombrowski's low shot after a nice pass from Pietrusewicz.

17 minutes in, Dombrowski hit a rip on a corner that forced a fantastic pad save from Del Toro. Just 50 seconds later, the Lions had another corner and Pietrusewicz's attempt was kicked away.

Albright improves to 4-10 overall and will travel to face Commonwealth Conference rival Elizabethtown on Friday.
