Box Score
Freshman Allison Dombrowski scored with just 4:22 remaining to give the Albright College field hockey team a 1-0 victory over Arcadia and send six seniors out on a high note on Senior Day.
Dombrowski's initial shot was saved from close range by Arcadia goalkeeper
Jessica Mahoney, but the Albright rookie got to the rebound and lifted it past Mahoney and into the net.
Honored before the start of the game were six Lion seniors-
Madison Bailey,
Rose Casesi,
Beth Moran,
Samantha Pesaresi,
Kelsey Ruch and
Kelsey Trainor.
A very tense game featured just 10 total shots, only five of which were on net, culminating in Dombrowski's game winner.
Nine minutes into the contest, a pass reached Casesi at the back post but her shot hit the frame. Casesi almost led a three-on-one break later in the first half, but the last Arcadia defender managed to poke the ball away.
Six minutes before halftime,
Victoria Brito controlled
Kaitlyn Pietrusewicz's pass off a corner but couldn't connect on a dangerous ball across the goalmouth.
The Lions' sophomore goalie
Marguerite DeLucas recorded her 10th career shutout, which is a program record at Albright. While mostly untested, she did well to kick the ball away after
Marilyn Beatty nearly broke free in the second half, and later made a key double-save on
Morgan Paese.
Albright is 5-12, 1-5 and will host 2010 national finalist Messiah on Tuesday.
