Box Score
The Albright College field hockey offense exploded for eight goals on Thursday as the Lions defeated visiting Cedar Crest College, 8-0.
Albright held a 22-0 shot advantage in the first half, and ended up with a 31-0 gap for the game.
Albright's upperclassmen defenders got into the action in the second half. Junior
Courtney White's shot from the outside right midway through the period was her first career goal for the Lions. Senior
Madison Bailey then scored to put the hosts ahead 7-0. It was Bailey's first goal since 2008.
The Lions had gotten the game off to a great start as Allison Dombrowski scored on a corner in the second minute, off
Rose Casesi's entry pass.
Dombrowski had another nice outside shot five minutes later but it was kicked away by the Falcons'
Lindsay Harrison, one the nation's save leaders.
Less than 10 minutes into the game, it was 2-0 as Casesi broke free down the left side. Her shot was saved but
Kelsey Trainor was there at the doorstep to finish it off.
Harrison came up with a great save on Albright's next attack, with a full extension dive to her right to block Dombrowski's effort.
Victoria Brito soon tipped in Casesi's shot for a 3-0 lead, and
Kaitlyn Pietrusewicz's unassisted goal made it 4-0 and forced Cedar Crest to call timeout.
With 11:30 remaining, Albright's pounced on another tap-in, with Casesi knocking in Trainor's pass from right in front of goal.
Later on, with exactly 10 minutes remaining in the contest, senior
Beth Moran's long range blast made it 8-0 Lions.
Albright improves to 3-9 with the victory and will host Lebanon Valley, Saturday at 6 PM.
