Box Score
The Albright College field hockey team fell 5-0 to 2010 national quarterfinalists Lebanon Valley College, Saturday at Shirk Stadium.
Sophomore goalie
Marguerite DeLucas made 16 saves and had a great overall performance in the loss.
Early on, DeLucas slapped away
Lauren Brumbach's high shot off a corner. Later in the first half, she made a double save on LVC's
Jocelyn Novak at the doorstep.
Novak became the second all-time leading goal scorer in Division III with her third consecutive hat-trick, and beat DeLucas to the far post early to give the Dutchmen a 1-0 lead.
Albright junior
Courtney White recorded a defensive save in the first half, kicking away Brumbach's shot with DeLucas stranded.
With 4:20 left in the first half, DeLucas dove at
Nicole Vasiliu's feet at the left post to smother a shot, and then kicked away a chance on the ensuing corner as well.
Just before the break, Albright's goalie tipped Brumbach's shot off the left post, then stuffed
Mandi Albright on the rebound.
The Dutchmen finally broke through with four second half goals, including two historic tallies from Novak. Novak also had a clear breakway early in the period however, and DeLucas charged out to save the shot off her stick.
With a little over 20 minutes to play, LVC's
Jess Cox swatted
Kirsten Martzall's cross out of the air, but DeLucas was there for another nice save.
The Lions are 3-10, 0-2 and host Lebanon Valley on Monday.
