Results

The Albright College men's swimming team used its superior depth to defeat conference rival Widener at home, 114-78 in the Albright Natatorium on Saturday.

When the Lions won their 2010-11 MAC championship in February, Widener was their closest challenger- just 13 points behind. Albright left no doubt on this occasion, taking the top time in eight of 11 events.

Freshman Rick Sutton led the way with victories in the 1000 free (10:29.41) and 500 free (5:00.19).

The Lions swept both the the 200 and 50 freestyle events to put the meet away early. Matt Bauer (1:52.81), Adam Kurtz and Sean Spellacy went 1-2-3 in the 200 free while Ralph Porrazzo (22.10), Tim Pierce and Mike McBride matched that feat in the 50 free.

Porrazzo also won the 200 back in 2:02.16, while McBride and Pierce went took the top two places in the 100 free. Steve Thomas won the 200 IM with a time of 2:05.36.

The Lions improve to 2-1, including a 2-0 mark against MAC and Division III opposition, and will host Ursinus on Wednesday.
